Why Plantvale exists.
Most plant content online is recycled fluff. Plantvale is the site I wished existed when I brought home my first plant — and then forty more — and started Googling everything that went wrong.
The short version
Plantvale is run by one plant person — someone whose home slowly turned into a small indoor jungle, with a garden border to match. I'm not a botanist and I'm not a brand. I'm someone who reads horticultural sources when a plant declines, kills the occasional plant and learns from it, and got tired of care articles that say everything and nothing at the same time.
The plan: cover every common houseplant and garden plant a real grower actually keeps. Honest care, honest difficulty, real problems, and a clear answer to "is this plant right for my space?"
How it started
My first plant was a supermarket calathea — possibly the worst choice a beginner can make. It crisped, browned, and sulked while every article told me it was "easy care." It wasn't. The plants that actually survived my early mistakes taught me far more than any blog did.
So I started keeping notes. Which plants forgave a missed watering. Which ones needed a moss pole to look like the photos. Which "air- purifying" claims held up and which were marketing. After a couple of years of notes I had enough for a real site — so here it is.

- 120 plant profiles — 60 houseplants and 60 garden plants. Origin, appearance, light, watering, propagation, problems, and who each plant suits best.
- 50+ care guides — watering, light, propagation, repotting, pests, and choosing the right plant. Updated as seasons and conditions change.
- No fluff sections — no "10 reasons plants make you happy" filler. If a topic doesn't need 2000 words, it doesn't get 2000 words.
Editorial principles
- Independent. No brand pays for placement. Recommendations are based on real growing, value, and how well something actually works.
- Honest about difficulty. If a plant is genuinely hard, we say so — instead of calling everything "easy care."
- Affiliate-honest. Some links earn us a commission — disclosed on every page. Commission never influences a recommendation.
- Updated, not abandoned. Care needs shift through the year. We revisit and refresh guides, not just stamp a fresh date on them.
How we make money
Plantvale is reader-supported. If you click an affiliate link and end up buying, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That's it. No display ad clutter, no sponsored posts, no email-list selling. If the affiliate model ever conflicts with honesty, honesty wins.
Who's behind it
